Using Google Sites teachers will be led step by step through creating a Digital Portfolio. Student created Digital Portfolios are an impressive way for students to document their learning process throughout the year. By including photographs, text, embedding links and documents teachers can easily assess student learning and progress throughout the year.
In this session, participants will learn about the Google extension, Kami. Kami can be used within the Schoology platform for students to be able to annotate on PDF documents. Participants will be able to see how Kami is used on the student end as well as be able to learn how to create a PDF assignment in Schoology.
Many classes talk about locations throughout the world but do you use the technology available to you to show these locations to students? In this session, we will examine the Google Cultural Institute, Google Tour Builder and Google Earth for Chromebooks as tools that allow you to give students tours of important locations, buildings, and even art work into your curriculum.
Synth is a podcasting tool which is strictly for audio recordings. Because there is no video attached to a podcast, students who are shy or reluctant to record themselves on video, open up when using this tool. Additionally, the ability to have threaded discussions opens up the doors of possibilities in your classroom. Discussions can have audio or written responses. Come to this session to see how we have connected classroom to classroom as well as classroom to content area experts. We watched our student work and engagement increase as we changed their audience.

Desmos is so much more than an online calculator. This session will demonstrate how teachers can use available resources on the Desmos website to instruct elementary students in math, science, social studies and language arts while incorporating the 5 C's. Attendees will explore with lessons available on the Desmos website and create a lesson for a subject of their own interest. We will also explore the "teacher dashboard" feature within the Desmos lessons and discuss how it can be used for formative assessments during instructions in addition to giving immediate feedback to students. The technology needed to access Desmos is an electronic device with internet connection.
Google and Schoology were made for each other! Learn how to use Google apps to encourage students to create, collaborate, communicate and think critically. Use Google slides, drawings, docs and forms to foster the 5 C's, using Schoology to deliver and direct learning.

We will use folders, pages, discussion questions, and assessments within Schoology to make clear pathways for students to explore. We will cover curation of resources and tech tools to differentiate with ease. We will also discuss peer feedback with Google Docs, and tracking student progress. You will have an opportunity to select one of the tools and begin exploring.
We will introduce the Book Creator website for the purpose of creating digital books and comic books, research journals, digital portfolios and science or math lab reports for high school. The site allows students to work collaboratively or independently on their products and then publish their work. This is a great way for students to demonstrate their learning, to make student thinking visible, and to amplify student voice. Participants will activate a free account, set up a library and learn how to use all of the tools including narration, video journaling, and exporting or publishing student work.

Does your Google Drive leave you feeling like you're diving for lost treasure? This session will provide you with tips to organize your MyDrive as well as offer tips to help students do the same.

- Learn how to use the online "Our Virginia" textbook and Delta Readers to assign and check student work
- Learn how to use the Hamilton Musical as part of your Revolutionary War & Reflection on Democracy Unit. Also, learn how to link Language Arts (poetry, rhyming scheme, and figurative language practice) to your lessons along summarizing and finding the main ideas and cause/effect of primary sources.
- Learn how to use Classcraft to review 4th & 5th grade VBOs with Boss Battles and Taxes from the king.
- Gain access to my Google Folder packed with digital resources and activities to share with students through Schoology. Explore using 360 Cameras to create virtual tours. Provide students with hands on experience with collaborating, critical thinking, and creating a virtual tour using resources in Virginia Beach. Students will be given opportunities to explore the world around them using available 360 tours. During this session participants will be provided with access to 3rd grade performance task for habitats and discover how students presented research and created a virtual tour to support the mission of the Brock Center and Lynnhaven Now. Virtual tours were created using visuals and research to present to the community about a chosen animal's habitat, ways to support the animal, explaining the animal's life processes, relationships and actionable items students can take to protect the animal.
This session is designed to introduce the BBC Micro:Bit and how it can be used in the educational setting. We will show you how you can start your students coding on a virtual Micro:Bit and transferring that knowledge to the Micro:Bit Unit. Diving into coding causes great excitement in the classroom, but Diving deeper and transferring that skill to a physical object raises that excitement to a whole new level!.
Learn how to use Tinkercad and a 3D printer to engage your students in learning curriculum objectives in any grade. Participants will learn how first graders worked in teams to design snap together plants using TinkerCad, an online 3D design app and Makerbot 3D printers. Students did this to demonstrate what they had learned about plant parts and their purpose. In addition to learning about the procedures and resources for this project, time is allotted during the session to discuss how this creative learning pathway can work for your students in your grade with your curriculum. In addition, other useful resources and techniques will be discussed. It will be useful for participants to bring their chromebooks or lap tops to this session to sample TinkerCad.

I will be submitting a second proposal for a session I would like to teach that will be a good commercial for this session as a follow up. In my other proposal, "Going Digital with 4th and 5th Grade Content," I will be sharing ways to teach and review science and social studies VBOs with many different digital strategies and tools. One of these will be with Classcraft, so it would work out great if this came after, so I could steer people toward this session on how to get set up with Classcraft.
