Participants will work with through an interactive session that demonstrates, and tests Alexa tools designed to meet the needs of students while fostering growth of independence and creative thinking. In this session, we will be identifying needs of students to cultivate a response for specific classroom pathways while exploring various skills, blueprints and creative tools for use with the Amazon Echo Dot Kids Edition. This session will provide personalized tools ready for immediate use with the Amazon Echo Dot Kids Edition including:
• Testing skills/phrases/flash cards
• Uses of free time and blueprints (both preloaded and ways to create on your own)
• Finding “secret gems” within Alexa (teaching manners, clear speaking, concise questions, visualizing, reading comprehension, math fact fluency)
Real Talk from a teacher: I’m going to show you how to harness the power of Alexa to make it a valuable learning tool in your classroom that inspires student creativity, inquisitiveness and independence in a way you never know could exist!

Synth is a podcasting tool which is strictly for audio recordings. Because there is no video attached to a podcast, students who are shy or reluctant to record themselves on video, open up when using this tool. Additionally, the ability to have threaded discussions opens up the doors of possibilities in your classroom. Discussions can have audio or written responses. Come to this session to see how we have connected classroom to classroom as well as classroom to content area experts. We watched our student work and engagement increase as we changed their audience.

(C17) Creating with Book Creator for High School
We will introduce the Book Creator website for the purpose of creating digital books and comic books, research journals, digital portfolios and science or math lab reports for high school. The site allows students to work collaboratively or independently on their products and then publish their work. This is a great way for students to demonstrate their learning, to make student thinking visible, and to amplify student voice. Participants will activate a free account, set up a library and learn how to use all of the tools including narration, video journaling, and exporting or publishing student work.

This session is designed to introduce the BBC Micro:Bit and how it can be used in the educational setting. We will show you how you can start your students coding on a virtual Micro:Bit and transferring that knowledge to the Micro:Bit Unit. Diving into coding causes great excitement in the classroom, but Diving deeper and transferring that skill to a physical object raises that excitement to a whole new level!.

(C5) Gamifying Your Classroom With Classcraft
- Learn the basics of what Classcraft is and how to set it up to gamify your classroom.
- Kellie and I both use Classcraft very differently in our classrooms, so between the two of us, we will be presenting how two different educators can use Classcraft accomplish their goals.
- We will be giving away free resources / stickers / posters / free premium account
- I will also be giving away links to tons of Classcraft (Random Events, Quests, and Boss Battles) that I have made that are aligned with 4th and 5th grade VBOs.
- Learn how to use Classcraft to get students to work together to manage your room for you with Tools like: Volume Meter, Random Name/Team generator, and Countdown clocks.
- Learn how to use Classcraft as a PBIS tool to build a community in your class that gains points to use toward in-game and real-world rewards.

I will be submitting a second proposal for a session I would like to teach that will be a good commercial for this session as a follow up. In my other proposal, "Going Digital with 4th and 5th Grade Content," I will be sharing ways to teach and review science and social studies VBOs with many different digital strategies and tools. One of these will be with Classcraft, so it would work out great if this came after, so I could steer people toward this session on how to get set up with Classcraft. I would even be willing to do the both sessions back to in the morning and the afternoon, so there would be two chances for people to do both.

In this course we will discuss creative tips and tricks for using arguably the most versatile Google application. Ditch the mindset that Slides are only for presentations and get ready to learn how to use this powerful tool for everything from digitizing your typical activity sheets to playing math center games to collaborating to making stop motion animation and more! Additionally, discover the wonderful world of ADD-ONS! All skill levels welcomed, but a basic understanding of basic tools in Slides would be helpful (i.e., inserting shapes, keyboard shortcuts for cut and paste, inserting images).
